Every year, champagne lovers, collectors, and seasoned buyers consult Wine-Searcher's "World's Top 10 Most Expensive Champagnes" list to track prestigious and pricey champagnes.
The 2025 rankings have been revealed, and many luxury champagnes make the list. While familiar houses dominate the list, price trends indicate a subtle shift in market sentiment.
These four legendary champagne houses remain firmly at the top, continuing to dominate the premium champagne market.
Rivaling this is the relatively young Jacques Selosse, known in the wine world as the "light of smallholder champagne," whose popularity is incredibly high.
While the status of top-tier champagnes remains unshaken, prices for most champagnes have stabilized or even declined slightly this year, perhaps signaling a cooling of the ultra-premium champagne market.
Without further ado, let's take a look at the top ten most expensive champagnes in the world according to Wine-Searcher's database this year.
And how much do they sell for?
This list is based on average international prices on Wine-Searcher.
International average price: $5,225
Topping the list, Dom Pérignon P3 Plenitude Brut has seen its price continue to climb compared to last year, rising from $4,831 to $5,225.
P3 is the highest grade of Dom Pérignon, aged approximately 25 years, marking the third peak in the aging process of champagne. In 2020, the average price of Dom Pérignon P3 was $2,610, but today's price has nearly doubled.
International average price: $4,991
Ranked second is Dom Pérignon P3 Plenitude Brut Rose, with its price dropping from $5,305 last year to $4,991 this year. P3 Plenitude Brut Rose, aged for 25 years, is even more rare.
This P3 Plenitude Brut Rose previously topped the list for several years, trading in price with the top-ranked P3 Champagne. This year's price has seen a significant drop, but it hasn't fallen out of the top three.
International average price: $3,527
This Krug Champagne has risen another spot, its price increasing from $3,341 to $3,527 this year.
Krug Clos d’Ambonnay Blanc de Noirs Brut is a very rare Champagne from the Krug house, made from 100% Pinot Noir. First released in the 1995 vintage, it is a favorite among many critics.
International average price: $3,014
This Champagne has risen significantly from last year's seventh place ranking, when it was ranked lower but priced at $3,149. While it has risen in the rankings, its price has dropped to $3,014. The Louis Roederer Cristal Gold Medalion Orfevres Limited Edition Brut is not only produced in limited quantities, but also features an exquisitely designed bottle. Each bottle is said to be 100% handmade, with the crystal-clear bottle encased in a 24-karat gold-plated sleeve. This meticulous process naturally leads to a high price.
International Average Price: $2,811
A dark horse entry into the top five is the Jacques Selosse Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Brut, which wasn't on the list last year but is now priced at $2,811.
Selosse, a popular "smallholder champagne," is known for its use of the solera system, commonly used in Sherry wines, and oak barrels during fermentation, resulting in a rich, brioche aroma. Many wine critics have given this blanc de blancs champagne high marks.
International Average Price: $2,356
This wine didn't make the list last year, but it performed strongly this year, reaching $2,356.
However, it has seen a slight decrease in price since its 2023 ranking of eighth at $2,467.
Dom Pérignon's "L'Abbaye" series only produces vintage champagnes, which must be aged for at least 20 years before release. Due to its small production, each bottle of Reserve de L'Abbaye has its own unique serial number.
International Average Price: $2,324
This year, the Louis Roederer Cristal Vinotheque Edition Brut Rose Millesime climbed one spot to seventh place, with its price increasing from $2,285 to $2,324, though still significantly below its peak price of approximately $29,000. To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Louis Roederer Cristal, the house created a dedicated rosé line. This Louis Roederer Cristal Vinotheque vintage rosé has been hailed by critics as "the finest rosé champagne ever."
International average price: $2,315
This is a regular on the list, but this year it dropped three places, dropping significantly from last year's price of $3,176 to $2,315.
Bollinger is known for its recurring role in the James Bond films. This "Spectre Limited Edition," a tribute to the film of the same name, is both rare and expensive, making it highly sought after by fans and collectors.
International Average Price: $2,256
This Selosse vintage champagne has appeared on the list for many years, but this year it dropped two spots to ninth place, with a slight decrease in price from $2,453 to $2,256.
International Average Price: $2,221
This champagne was not on the list last year, but it ranked ninth on the 2023 list at $2,288. This year's price is slightly lower, at $2,221.
This 100% Chardonnay is produced in Mesnil-sur-Oger, in the heart of Champagne. Since Krug bottled the first bottle of Krug Mesnier Blanc de Blancs Champagne in 1979, it has become a favorite in the collections of countless champagne lovers.
As can be seen, of these ten champagnes, only three saw price increases, while five saw price decreases, some significantly, and two new wines made their debut on the list. However, the critics' ratings remained consistent, demonstrating consistent quality.
In the world of wine, some major champagnes are often synonymous with luxury. However, facing cyclical market fluctuations, luxury champagne prices also have their upper limits.
