Marqués de Riscal boasts a unique geographical location, with its primary vineyards located in the Spanish D.O. Ca. Rioja. The winery's vineyards cover 1,500 hectares across seven major Chilean appellations, scattered between Elciego and neighboring villages such as Leza, Laguardia, and Villabuena.

The poor soils, originating from the various terraces of the Ebro River, are chalky clay. The Rioja Alavesa sub-appellation has traditionally been renowned for producing wines with excellent aging potential, thanks to the grape juice's high acidity and well-structured tannins.

In the face of climate change, the winery has placed sustainability at the core of its long-term strategy.

The winery has been practicing organic farming for many years, and currently over 80% of its vineyards are organic, with the goal of achieving 100% organic certification in the coming years. The winery also minimizes its environmental impact by reducing fungicide use, optimizing water management, and promoting regenerative agricultural techniques.
